Nowhere But The Woodlands

Texas Queens Reign Supreme
The three Texas queens

For only the second time in the past year, the reigning Texas queens made an appearance together, this time in Conroe, Texas, for the Go Texan parade. Bonnie Hubert, Mrs. Texas International, Jade Monfils, Miss Texas International, and Dymond Hayes, Miss Teen Texas International, ducked out of a pageant seminar they were jointly presenting , donned western bling, and rode down the parade route chauffeured by Skeeter Hubert, husband of Bonnie Hubert. Good weather prevailed and they were able to ride in the convertible provided by Fred Haas Toyota World, compliments of Fleet Manager, Paul Wethington.

After the parade, the Queens returned to the seminar in The Woodlands being conducted by pageant promoter, Krisin Koether, the former Mrs. Texas International 2004, and Valerie Hayes, the renowned pageant coach. The three Texas title holders were on hand to mentor the new field of contestants and share their experiences of the past year.  A brunch was provided by Mrs. Texas International, Bonnie Hubert, at her home, where the contestants could do a ‘meet and greet’ before attending the seminar.
The Texas International Pageant is a platform pageant, based primarily on the cause that the contestants have selected to champion, and how well they present their platform to a panel of judges. The pageant doesn’t have a swimsuit or talent category, but health and fitness are essential, and because the winners will be goodwill ambassadors not only for their cause, but for the great state of Texas, the total woman is evaluated. So the contestants communications skills, interests, style, and inner beauty, are taken into consideration.
For the past year, Miss Teen Texas Int’l, Dymond Hayes of Tomball, TX, has been speaking to young women about good breast health and breast cancer awareness, having lost two grandmothers to breast cancer. She is currently attending Spellman College and planning a career in journalism as a political analyst. Prior to and during her reign, Miss Texas Int’l, Jade Monfils, of Dallas, TX, has been working with youths to eliminate gangs, and said she will continue to champion this cause after she relinquishes her crown. Mrs. Texas Int’l, Bonnie Hubert, the Crisis Intervention Specialist for the Conroe Independent School District, has been an active supporter for CASA Court Appointed Special Advocates. She said the reason she participated in the pageant system was to use it as an opportunity to spread their message across the state and recruit volunteers for CASA. She too, will continue to support this program by participating in CASA sponsored events and is coordinating the first Montgomery County 5K run for CASA in September.
These three dynamic women represent all the major ethnicities in Texas, and demonstrate how diverse the Texas culture has become. The three queens will come together one last time in San Antonio, March 26-28, to crown their successors, who could very well be among those in town attending the pageant preparation seminar, but look for them to remain in the public eye even after their year of service is over.
