Grand Oaks Grizzlies Varsity Football Team
The Grand Oaks High School Grizzlies Varsity Football Team is led by 1st-year head coach Shaun McDowell.
McDowell replaces experienced leader Dr. Mike Jackson as both head football coach and athletic director. After spending the last 20 years working his way up the coaching ladder, McDowell made the move from Foster High School and joins Grand Oaks as the program's 2nd head coach ever.
The Grand Oaks Grizzlies compete in District 13-6A.
During the 2022-2023 season, the Grizzlies finished in 7th place with a district record of 2-6 and an overall record of 4-6. The team won both games from out-of-district play to start the season before faltering in district. The team's only wins came against Caney Creek and Cleveland to bookend either side of a five-game losing streak.
Grand Oaks opens its season with a game against Aldine Nimitz High School before starting district play on Saturday, September 9th against The Woodlands College Park.
