About Us

WHO WE ARE
JUNIOR LEAGUE OF THE WOODLANDS, INC.

The League attracts women with a variety of skills, backgrounds and interests. We have a unique League in that we have an expanded opportunity to reach multiple communities throughout suburban North Houston. A few listed areas include:

Champions, Spring, Cypress, Klein, Tomball, Jersey Village, the FM1960 area as well as The Woodlands, Conroe, Willis, and South Montgomery County.

The League's 2016-2017 membership includes the following:

301 Actives — members managing the organization and fulfilling community volunteer commitments
189 Sustainers — members serving in advisory roles and/or providing much needed support for League activities.
64 Provisionals — new members engaged in an intensive one-year training program.
THE HISTORY OF JLTW

On February 25, 1990, the Junior Service League of North Houston, established in 1983, became the Junior League of North Harris County, Inc. and the 277th Junior League to join The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI). In 2005, South Montgomery County was added to our name and we became the Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties, Inc. There are over 160,000 women in 292 Leagues throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Great Britain.

Sixty-eight women laid the foundation for the future of the Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties, Inc. They resided in the North Houston area and were devoted to addressing social concerns in our community.

The growing number of charitable partners and an increase in those members who reside in and near The Woodlands sparked the Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties to rebrand the 25-year-old organization as the Junior League of The Woodlands (JLTW) in 2015. The rebranding included the unveiling of a new logo and branding theme: Same Programs. Same Members. Different Name.

The rebranding was a defining moment in the League, especially as it coincided with its 25th Anniversary Year. Clearly, the objective of improving communities through effective action and leadership remains the same, along with its service areas, dedicated volunteers and community partners. The only difference is the name.

As we look to the future, we will continue contributing to meeting the needs of our community and our members in ways that are meaningful and enriching. Through the planning process and with the guidance of the Community Advisory Board, we will set our course for the years ahead.
