YMCA Open Doors: YMCA Financial Assistance Program We strive to turn no one away due to inability to pay. Limited financial assistance is available, based on available resources, to individuals and families that qualify.
The YMCA is community-based and believes that its programs should be available to everyone regardless of age, background, ability or income. That's why the YMCA offers an Open Doors program, a sliding fee scale that is designed to fit your individual financial situation.
Who can benefit from YMCA financial assistance? Anyone who substantiates financial need can apply. This includes those affected by: w Job loss w Divorce or change in family finances w Overwhelming medical bills In addition, children and youth are often referred by other social service agencies
How much financial assistance does one family receive? This depends on the extent of the need and length of the program. Because the YMCA seeks to help as many individuals as possible, we encourage individuals to pay a portion of the fee.
The assistance is provided for specific time period and limited by the amount of scholarship funding available. If needed, you may apply for an extension.
How do I apply for financial assistance? Because the YMCA wants to help in many different situations, information on income and family size is required.
Stop by the YMCA Welcome Center Desk and pick up an Open Doors Application. Your information will remain confidential.
Funds for scholarships and financial assistance are provided by the annual YMCA Partners campaign and the United Way.

YMCA Partners The South Montgomery County YMCA is committed to making its services available to ALL of the youth in the community. "YMCA Partners" is the name given to the many volunteers whose generous gifts of time and money enables the Y to provide programs to South Montgomery County kids whose families come from all income levels.
Every dollar raised goes directly to providing assistance for kids and families who are in need that live in the South Montgomery County communities. Your gift fo the Partners program makes our mission possible: To accept all people, regardless of their ability to pay. With your help, thousands of kids and families have the opportunity to participate in nurturing programs that help them grow in spirit, mind and body.
The YMCA Partners Program:
- Sends kids to Summer Day Camp & Resident Camp
- Sponsors activities for youth in local apartment communities
- Provides healthy options for older youth & teens
- Provides caring supervision for kids of all ages
- Provides scholarships so children can learn to swim, play sports and participate in other recreational activities.
The Y does all this regardless of a family's ability to pay the full cost of the program.
Over 4,400 scholarships were awarded in the year 2005 due to the generosity of Partners donors. To make a difference and give a kid a helping hand, please call (281) 367-9622. The 2006 campaign goal is $380,000. The Need is Much Greater.
