Cure PH Committee Prepares for 10th and Final Cure PH Golf Tournament and Introduces the 1st Annual Cure PH Bug Boil

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Cure PH Committee is preparing for their 10th and final Cure PH golf tournament as they make plans to introduce the first Cure PH Bug Boil.

The golf tournament, slated for Friday, April 25, will be held at the Cypresswood Golf Course where the tournament began 10 years ago. The Bug Boil, slated for the following day, Saturday, April 26, will be held at Rob Fleming Park in the new Creekside Village in The Woodlands. Both events will raise funds for research to help find a cure for pulmonary hypertension. One hundred percent of the proceeds are used to fund national research and awareness of the disease to discover better treatments and hopefully find a cure.

"We are so grateful for all of the support and dedication the community, the committee, sponsors and volunteers have given our golf tournament over the past 10 years," said Jack Stibbs, area resident and Past Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. "Without the community support, our tournament would not be the success it has been in helping us raise more than $1.4 million for pulmonary hypertension research. We are very excited to introduce our Bug Boil this year as a new, fun way to raise funds and spread the word about pulmonary hypertension."

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a life threatening disease that affects hundreds of thousands of people in the United States. At least twelve of those live in Montgomery County.

PH is an emerging disease and progressive disorder that can severely compromise the function of the heart and lungs. The disorder causes high blood pressure on the right side of the heart and lungs. It frequently strikes women in their 20s and 30s and if misdiagnosed or left untreated, the disease can be fatal.
