THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- On Monday, June 29, 2009 The Woodlands Joint Powers Agency (WJPA) issued mandatory water restrictions for The Woodlands Municipal Utility Districts in Montgomery County as part of Stage 3 of the MUDs Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan. The restrictions are due to the continued hot and dry weather and increased demand for water.

The mandatory restrictions limit outdoor irrigation to no more than two days per week and no more than a total of one inch of potable water applied per week. To reduce stress on the water supply system, WJPA is also recommending automatic irrigation timers to be set to complete all watering cycles by 4 a.m.

Residential irrigation schedules are as follows:
Addresses ending in odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7, and 9) are limited to Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Addresses ending in even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6, and 8) are limited to Thursdays and Sundays.

Fines up to $200 per violation may be imposed for repeat offenders. For more information, contact WJPA at 281 367-1271 ext. 4.
