THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Promoting water-wise methods, Community Associations of The Woodlands present Woodlands Landscaping Solutions, a free gardening event, on Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Millennium Forest Gardens, located at the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Services facility, 8203 Millennium Forest Dr.
The annual event focuses on water-wise landscape techniques for East Texas with sage tips for yard and garden. Spotlighting native and well-adapted plants, booths and demonstrations focus on achieving beautiful, easy-care gardens that reflect personal style.
“Fall is the best time to plant in Southeast Texas. The event highlights methods, rather than products, to help homeowners conserve water in their landscape,” explained Lynne Aldrich, manager of Environmental Services.
Addressing the revived interest in organic gardening, exhibitors will share steps to return balance and health to parched landscapes. Pond and garden tours will showcase water-wise selections while Rainwater Harvesting will explore water-saving techniques.
“Do-it-yourselfers and garden enthusiasts will have a chance to ask the experts,” Aldrich said. “The event is a hands-on, how-to learning experience!”
Sharing her design expertise, Renee Lebon will reveal the secrets to creating gorgeous container gardens. Conservation groups bring the allure of nature to the garden with tips to attract birds and butterflies. Delighting the culinary senses, vegetable and herb displays will highlight varieties for Montgomery County.
A plant sale will also feature heirloom roses, hardy perennials, shrubs, trees and herbs. Organic products, pine straw and gardening gifts will also be available from the Garden Shop.
Both novice and seasoned gardeners will find answers to their landscape challenges at Woodlands Landscaping Solutions. Hosted at the Millennium Forest Gardens at 8203 Millennium Forest Dr., the event is a free program of Community Associations of The Woodlands with sponsorship from Montgomery County Master Gardener Association, Hilton Garden Inn and Waste Management.
