Girls basketball: Oak Ridge downs Magnolia West

OAK RIDGE NORTH, Texas – The Oak Ridge High School girls’ basketball team entered the Thanksgiving Break with a 40-23 victory over Magnolia West on Tuesday at the Eagle’s Nest.

Britney Hines scored eight points to lead the way.

The Lady War Eagles jumped out to an early 16-4 lead and never looked back. A 16-7 advantage over the third quarter put the game out of reach.

Oak Ridge (4-4) plays in the Montgomery Tournament Nov. 29-Dec. 1 and doesn’t play at home again until Dec. 4 when the Lady War Eagles host Eisenhower at 7 p.m. in the final pre-district game of the 2012-13 season.

Completing a string of eight games in seven days, The Woodlands High School girls’ basketball team defeated Cy-Ranch 52-36 at home Tuesday. The Lady Highlanders improved to 9-1 on the season after Kelsey Lang scored 16 points and both Nicole Iademarco and Emily Gauthier added 10 points.

The Woodlands will catch its breath over Thanksgiving before returning to the court for a 7 p.m. Tuesday game at Clear Springs.

The College Park High School girls’ basketball team turned away Cy-Falls 47-38 at home Tuesday. Alexia Sanders scored 22 points to lead the way and Uma Rajagopalan added 16 more.

 The Lady Cavaliers (8-3) used a 21-14 advantage over the final eight minutes to pull away.

College Park hosts Manvel at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30.
