Bret Strong appointed to advisory board of University of Colorado's Professional Mentorship Program

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Making an impact on young business students, Bret L. Strong of The Strong Firm P.C. has been selected to join the Mentor Advisory Board for the Professional Mentorship Program at the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business in Boulder, Colorado.

Strong is the founder and managing shareholder of the business law firm, The Strong Firm P.C., and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance from the University of Colorado at Boulder and earned a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from South Texas College of Law.

Strong joins a group of nine business executives who serve as mentors in the program, as well as strategic advisors and program ambassadors in key regional markets.

Launched in 2009, the Professional Mentorship Program (PMP) partners current undergraduate and MBA students at the Leeds School with business professionals and corporate leaders, many who are former Leeds business students. By connecting them with professional mentors, PMP gives students a chance to seek additional guidance on matters such as choice of majors, the potential for graduate studies, work-life balance and effective networking and job search strategies.

PMP director Katie Connor said the initiative is a model for other schools looking to introduce formal mentoring programs. Participation in the PMP has increased almost tenfold – from 134 students and mentors in 2009 to more than 1,000 participants today. The goal is to ultimately provide every student in the Leeds School with a rich mentoring experience.

“There is really something special about a connection with another person, and that’s what this program is all about,” explained Connor. “When you think about it, people hire people. It’s not just what you know but also who you are and your ability to connect and relate with your boss, with diverse teams of colleagues, and with clients across the globe. The mentors in the program provide invaluable expertise, exposure, and inspiration to Leeds students as they see to become the next generation of strong business leaders.”
