Cunae International School offers International Baccalaureate Diploma Program

Prestigiously granted authorization to offer IB Program

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Cunae International School was recently granted authorization to offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Program for year 11 and 12 students. This year, three students began their endeavors to fulfill the requirements of this rigorous program, and are expected to complete the program in May 2014.

The IB Diploma program is a two year curriculum, offered to students between the ages of 16 and 19, which has the recognition and respect of leading local and world universities. Universities consider IB students to be the most prepared to handle and succeed in higher education due to both enhanced creative and critical thinking skills that are developed by the program. The IB Diploma also challenges students to further develop their capacity to question, research, problem solve, communicate and collaborate at a collegiate level.

Graduates are in a position to apply to universities around the globe, without the difficulties faced by students who have undertaken a national curriculum. The IB program ensures that an international and national focus are both subscribed to within the curriculum, and the worldwide external assessment of students ensures high academic continuity and accountability of students and staff alike, no matter where the Diploma is undertaken.

The program, although rigorous, is open to any student who is motivated and willing to challenge themselves. Students are supported by Cunae’s committed teachers and low staff-student ratios. In order for students to be fully prepared to undertake this program, they are encouraged to enroll by year 7. Acceptance of prospective students into higher grade levels may be considered if students are suitably prepared. Due to the rigor and small classroom sizes, only a handful of places will be offered to rising 11th graders in the fall of 2014.

As the only school in The Woodlands to offer the IB Diploma, this has also been a coup for the local community. The school is attracting interest from families of global companies who are familiar with the program and who seek to maintain such a high standard of education for their children. A number of families have chosen to move to The Woodlands due to Cunae’s offering of the IB Diploma, as well as its preparatory program in the earlier years (prek3 to grade 10).
