Girls basketball: The Woodlands clinches title at Lufkin

It took overtime but The Woodlands High School girls’ basketball team went to Lufkin and came away with a 43-41 victory to clinch the District 14-5A championship.
The No. 19 state-ranked Lady Highlanders (27-7, 11-0) rallied from a 24-11 halftime deficit to tie the game at 41. They then scored the only two points in the extra frame to claim the league title.
Nicole Iademarco poured in 20 points to lead the way.
The College Park High School girls’ basketball team also went on the road Tuesday to claim victory. The Lady Cavaliers (19-10, 8-2) had a much easier time of it, thumping Conroe 67-37.
Alexia Sanders scored 23 points and Leah Breakfield added 10 more.
