The Woodlands High School wrestling team will be among the favorites at the nine-team District 9-5A Meet, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2, at Klein High School.

The Highlanders geared up for the meet with an impressive showing recently at the Klein Collins Tournament.

Fighting through injuries and illness, the Highlanders remained strong. Lindsey Spjut and Skyler Franks led the way.  Spjut recorded her 20th win, all by pins, and remained unscored upon.

Franks, meanwhile, raised his stock by defeating the No. 5 state-ranked wrestler to advance to the tournament finals.

The Woodlands will be competing against district foes College Park, Oak Ridge and Conroe from CISD, along with Kingwood and the four Klein ISD schools (Klein, Klein Collins, Klein Oak, Klein Forest).
