Branch Crossing YMCA celebrates 9th birthday

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The South Montgomery County Branch Crossing YMCA is celebrating its 9th Birthday and is opening its doors up to the community on February 21. Be our guest as we celebrate and thank the community for their support. The morning begins with Pancakes for Partners, 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. Y Senior Staff will be flipping and serving pancakes to guests to help raise funds for the Annual YMCA Partners Campaign. The birthday party begins at 11am and will continue throughout the day with cake, punch, mascots, games and much more.

The Branch Crossing YMCA facility opened its doors on February 21st, 2004. Located at 8100 Ashlane Way, the 40,000 square foot facility sits on 15.5 acres of land donated by The Woodlands Development Company.

Designed to compliment the Shadowbend location, which opened in September, 1986, the Branch Crossing YMCA features 2 unique amenities designed with families in mind. The Indoor Climbing Center features a freeform tower that is 26 feet tall with 8 climbing locations; an imprint wall that is 32 feet wide and 26 feet tall with 10 rope locations; and a bouldering wall for unroped climbing.

The Outdoor Family Water Park features three areas: A heated year-round 4 lane lap pool designed for the lap swimmer and swim lessons.. A family fun pool with two zero entry areas, bubblers, mushroom fountains, large play station with water slides, spray cannons and a large tipping bucket that dumps hundreds of gallons of water approximately every 5 minutes. For the older children, the park features a three loop water slide that is 20 feet tall and a one loop slide. The pool area also features a separate spray park with spray loops, arches, water geysers and water cannons.

The local YMCA has experienced phenomenal growth over the last 9 years including the opening of the Creekside YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center in 2010. This unique Y includes a 15-acre adventure camp, 50 foot alpine tower and giant swing, tepee village, themed tree houses, archery range, outdoor amphitheater and chapel, and a centerpiece lodge with a new wellness center. Providing the families of South Montgomery County 3 local YMCA locations helps to serve them and support the healthy development of kids, teens and families.

"Reconnecting Kids with Nature", The Creekside YMCA is the home for the YMCA Summer Day Camp Program, This 21-acre site was generously donated by The Woodlands Development Company.

Currently the YMCA serves more than 40,000 people annually; provides over $600,000 annually in scholarships and subsidized programs, keeping the YMCA available to all; and has more than 350 employees on its active payroll.

The South Montgomery County YMCA provides its members One Membership with Three Locations to choose from in their own community but your membership is also honored at any YMCA in the Greater Houston Area including Conroe, Tomball and Kingwood. Between the 3 locations in The Woodlands, members have more than 200 fitness classes to choose from weekly, 3 Wellness Centers, and complimentary Child Watch while you work out. The South Montgomery County YMCAs are opened 7 days a week.

The YMCA is community based and believes that its programs should be available to everyone regardless of age, background, ability or income.
