Laura Arnold to give John Cooper School Commencement Address

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Laura E. Arnold, Co-chair of the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, will give the keynote address at Commencement for The John Cooper School Class of 2013 on Friday, May 24. The ceremony will begin in Cooper’s Middle/Upper School Gymnasium at 6 p.m.

Arnold is the Co-Chair of the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, whose core objective is to produce substantial, widespread and lasting reforms that will maximize opportunities and minimize injustice in our society. Before founding this foundation with her husband, Arnold was the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Cobalt International Energy, in Houston, and prior to that she was a mergers and acquisitions attorney at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen, and Katz, in New York City.

Arnold has a J.D. from Yale Law School, and a M.Phil. in European Studies from the University of Cambridge, and a B.A. in Government from Harvard. Ms. Arnold is an Adjunct Professor of Management at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, where she is also a trustee. Other trustee positions she holds include Teach for America, the Innocent Project, Baylor College of Medicine, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Cooper’s Head of School Michael F. Maher will make the introductory remarks at the Cooper Commencement. "We are honored to have Ms. Arnold as our speaker and look forward to welcoming her to The John Cooper School on May 24."
