THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands High School 7-on-7 summer football team will host a state qualifying tournament on Saturday at the high school campus.

The 16-team tournament will be divided into four pools. Pool play will be held Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. with the top teams from each pool advancing to the Saturday afternoon winner’s bracket session.

Winners and runners-up from each state qualifying tournament gain entrance to the state tournament, which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, July 12-13, at Southwest Williamson County Regional Park in Leander. The state tournament moves from College Station this year but is expected to return to the Bryan/College Station area again in 2014.

Teams that have already qualified for the state tournament may continue to play in qualifying tournament but are not eligible to compete for its top honors. The only team in the field of 16 at The Woodlands 7-on-7 Tournament that falls into that category is Cy-Fair, which qualified earlier at the Cougars Tournament.

They will compete in Pool A on Saturday along with The Woodlands, Tomball and Klein Forest. Klein Collins, Montgomery, Cy-Creek and Clear Lake make up Pool B. Oak Ridge, Willis, Klein and Hightower compete in Pool C. College Park, Klein Oak, Westfield and Cinco Ranch will compete in Pool D.
