MCWC Offers New Defense Sense Classes

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Mothers and daughters are asked to join Michelle Peterson, community education specialist for the Montgomery County Women's Center at the Capital One bank every third Thursday of the month for Defense Classes and to receive free KidSafe ID Kits.

Peterson will conduct a heightened Defense Sense class and also facilitate the KidSafe ID Kits that includes fingerprinting and DNA recording to take with you. The class and the kits are offered free of charge.

Peterson joined the Outreach staff at the Women's Center in May. She has 17 years of extensive martial arts training and holds multiple black belts in several different styles of the martial arts. She is a very experienced and successful martial arts instructor and tournament competitor.

Peterson is the owner and head instructor of PROTECT Institute of Self-defense / Model Mugging of Texas. Her GIRL POWER self-esteem and self-defense workshops have been especially popular in public and in private schools throughout the US. She has appeared many times on TV, including several local appearances on the Debra Duncan morning show and nationally on the OPRAH.

Capital One bank is located at 2404 Research Forest Drive at Hewitt by the Black Walnut Cafe. Classes are from 7 to 8:30 pm and are offered free of charge. For more information about the classes call Carin Elliott at (281) 292-4155 ext. 271.
