Small Group Fitness Classes Available at the YMCA
Stay Healthy and Active during the Holidays
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The South Montgomery County YMCA offers small group fitness/training classes. With the busy holiday season fast approaching, staying fit and active is even more important to stay healthy, stress-free and energized. These classes are offered in small group settings and are designed for those just beginning on a fitness routine or introducing a new activity to their routine.
A support network such as a small group training, keeps you motivated and committed as well as gives you opportunities to make new friends and learn a new activity. A friend will help keep you accountable and motivate you on days you don’t fell like sticking to your commitment – and you can do the same for them!
• Women on Weights: A strength training class that teaches proper use of free weights and pin-select weights. Participant will also learn fun and useful tips to keep workout interesting and varied. The next session begins Dec. 2nd. Class meets on Wednesday, 12:30 p.m. at the Branch Crossing YMCA.
• 30/30 Workout: Designed to burn calories and give you energy. The class includes a 30 minute cardio interval on the treadmill or stationary bike and a 30 minute resistance training using weights, bands or reformer.
• Pilates Reformer: The reformer is the most popular piece of Pilates equipment which uses springs, straps and a moving carriage to strengthen core muscles, improve flexibility, correct postural misalignments and lengthen bulky muscles. Pilates is an education in body awareness. The next session begins Nov. 24th.
• Triathlon Team: An off-campus PE Class for Conroe ISD students, 7th – 12th grade. Class is led by certified USAT instructor Sandra Sutherland. Class meets Monday – Friday, 6 – 8 a.m. The next session begins Nov. 24th.
• Fit Squad: A class designed to teach older youth, ages 10 – 14, the importance of daily activity, how to include exercise into their routine as well as improving coordination skills, muscular strength, flexibility and cardio endurance. Offered in 4 week sessions, the class meets on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
Pre-registration is required for all small group fitness classes – space is limited. In addition, the YMCA offers personal fitness consultation, large group fitness classes, nutritional counseling, and much more for all ages, all levels of fitness and for all interests.
