Market Street Kicks Off Holiday Celebrations with Annual Tree Lighting Celebration
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands once again will be the place to be for the start of the holiday season as the shopping and entertainment destination hosts its Annual Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony on Thursday, November 19, capped off by the lighting of its soaring, 70-foot Christmas Tree.
Seven-year-old twins Jacquelyn and Jillian Johnson, who both cope with Juvenile Diabetes, will have the honor of lighting Market Street’s Christmas Tree, following in Market Street’s tradition of having a deserving child or children serve as its official Tree Lighters.
The Johnson twins were nominated by Carrie Reeves, a long time friend of the twin’s parents, Kellie and Randy Johnson. Reeves submitted a photo montage of the twins along with a letter describing their plight as Juvenile Diabetes patients.
“The photo montage as well as Carrie’s heartfelt words won us over,” said Jenny Taylor, Marketing Manager for Market Street. “We’re proud to host these two brave and inspirational children as our official Tree Lighters.”
The Rhett Butler Band will kick off the festivities at 6:00 pm. Magic elves and soothing music fill the air with the spirit of the holiday and snow might even fill the air. While at the tree lighting event, enjoy a fun carriage ride around Market Street’s Central Park. Carriage rides will start in front of the Cinemark Theater and will operate from 6 – 9 pm, weather permitting.
Carriage rides are $15 per adult couple; single adults are $8; children age 3 – 12 are $4. Children under three are free with a paying adult.
Market Street’s holiday carriage rides also will be offered November 20 – 21 and November 27 – 28 from 6 – 9 pm, weather permitting.
