TWHS ranked in Newsweek list of nation's best high schools
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Newsweek has released its annual ranking of America's Best High Schools and The Woodlands High School was ranked #295 out of 500 schools named to the list.
Newsweek has been ranking the nation's high schools for over a decade and this year revamped its methodology to focus on a school's success at turning out college ready students. Schools were ranked based on six components: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP tests taken per graduate (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered (5 percent).
The Woodlands High School's stats were:
- Student/Teacher ratio: 17.2
- Graduation rate: 97 percent
- Ap/IB Test: 2.1
- College bound: 89 percent
- Avg. SAT score: 1677
