The Woodlands High School baseball team won the league championship, so it is no surprise that they would dominate the 2012 All-District 14-5A Team as well.

The Woodlands Highlanders ace pitcher Kevin McCanna earned co-MVP honors after a 9-0 season that included a 0.79 ERA over 58 innings. McCanna struck out 82.

The Woodlands’ Ron Eastman was named District 14-5A Coach of the Year after leading the Highlanders to an 11-1 district record.

Highlanders making the all-district first team included pitcher Ryan Burnett, shortstop Lance Miles, third baseman Carter Hope, outfielder Alex Dunlap, and utility player Chris Andritsos.

Second-team all-district selections included catcher Garrett Hope, second baseman Corey Laughlin and outfielder Charlie Warren.

The College Park High School baseball team was well represented. Second baseman Tyler Vaughan was a unanimous first team pick. Outfielders Alex Young and Layton Zinsmeister earned first team honors along with designated hitter David Ellingson and pitcher Mitchell Price.

Pitcher Greg Jakusik and outfielder Kevin Barnes were named to the all-district second team.

The Oak Ridge High School baseball team found five players making the all-district team. Freshman Luken Baker, who hit a district-high .473, was named District 14-5A Newcomer of the Year.

In addition, pitcher Josh Smith earned all-district first team honors while pitcher Justen Heuermann, shortstop Dylan Cyr, and outfielder Riley McKnight were named to the all-district second team.
