Local lawyer drops pounds, donating to cancer fund in Ironman bid
THE WOODLANDS, Texas –– Eric Yollick has shed a lot of pounds over the last couple of years to be in this Saturday’s Ironman Texas.
About 215 pounds to be exact.
Yollick, a local attorney, will be participating in his first Ironman competition after having shed the weight during the last two years.
"I founded Team Yollick after both my son and wife were both diagnosed with cancer," he said.
The Crusade to End Cancer is the initiative of Team Yollick with money donated to be distributed to local cancer support, screening and detection; to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center for research and to the Knight Center Cancer Institute, one of the leading basic research institutions in the fight to end cancer.
To prepare for the rigorous Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas event Yollick climbed Colorado's Mount Elbert, the highest point of the Rocky Mountains, and also participated in the Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure in Aspen, Colo.
"I appreciate all the support and encouragement from my friends and associates and for the type of research that saved the life of both my wife and son. For more information about Team Yollick or to make a donation, go to www.teamyollick.com or call Geoff Litke, executive director for Team Yollick, at 281-363-3591.
