CISD board honors state golf champs
CONROE, Texas - The Woodlands High School boys' golf team won the 2012 State 5A championship title so the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees celebrated their achievement during the May meeting of the Board. This championship marks the school's fifth victory since 1992 (1992, 2002, 2005, and 2007).
Head coach Steve Cribari said, "Every championship is special, but the 2012 champions are unique because never before has a Texas 5A high school golf team become state champions with their B Team players."
In second place after the first day at the state golf championship, the Highlanders overcame a 4-shot deficit and posted an incredible 8-shot victory. The Board honored team members Fernando Cruz, Mike Durio, Chester Wang, Kyle Southard, and Chris Reina and praised their hard work and tenacity.
