SHENANDOAH, Texas - Domination was on the minds of The Woodlands High School football team on a cold and windy Friday night as it welcomed in District 14-5A newcomer Bryan. The Highlanders scored early and often for a 54-14 victory at Woodforest Bank Stadium.

It was The Woodlands' second game without head coach Mark Schmid, who is still recovering from a perforated intestine.

Highlanders' sophomore running back Patrick Carr rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns. And that was just the first half. Senior quarterback Blaine Gillespie threw for one touchdown and ran for another in the first two quarters as well in lifting the Highlanders to a 40-7 lead at the break.

Tyler Patrick returned a punt 59 yards for a touchdown and the rout was on.

Senior Garrett Harvey scored twice in the third quarter and sophomore Chris Andritsos relieved Gillespie at quarterback. It didn't slow down the Highlanders, who built on their halftime lead. They enjoyed a 54-7 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

The Woodlands improves to 5-3 for the season and 3-1 in District 14-5A play while Bryan falls to 2-7 and 1-4.

A&M Consolidated (7-2, 4-1) kept pace with the Highlanders for the top spot in the district title chase by defeating visiting Oak Ridge 28-7. The War Eagles slipped to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in district play.

Lufkin (5-3, 3-1) also remained at the top of the league standings with a 40-7 Homecoming Game victory over College Park (4-4, 1-3).

Conroe (3-5, 2-2) had a bye week.
