Basketball: The Woodlands falls to Austin Anderson
COLLEGE STATION – The 2012-13 season came to an end on Thursday for The Woodlands High School boys’ basketball team. The District 14-5A champion Highlanders dropped a 44-38 decision to Austin Anderson in an area round playoff game at College Station High School.
The Highlanders (28-7) fought back from a 16-7 deficit after one quarter to take a 23-22 lead on a Garret Colonna 3-pointer.
But Anderson used a 13-0 run to regain the lead for good early in the fourth quarter. The Trojans led by as many as nine points in the final period before Brian Baehl nailed a 3-pointer in the waning seconds.
Players and coaches reflected on the championship season following the game via Twitter.
Highlanders coach Dale Reed: “These guys got better all year and gave their everything.”
Garret Burlas: “Can't believe it's over... It's been real. Easily the best experience of my life.”
Joe Primavera: “Thanks to everyone that made my senior year special.”
Timi Adeleye: “This is weird. Basketball is no longer a part of my life.”
