THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Two small local businesses, Pound 4 Pound Boxing and Woodlands Performance & Suspension, have joined together to help raise funds for children with special needs at “Boxing 4 Inspiration” on Friday, May 31, 2013, from 6:00 pm. to 9:00 p.m., at Legends Sports Complex in Spring, Texas. Proceeds will benefit Panther Creek Inspiration Ranch in The Woodlands.

The event will showcase local boxers who have been training and competing at Pound 4 Pound Boxing through their interleague division, as well as some who were recently crowned “golden gloves champions” in the Golden Gloves Tournament hosted in Houston. Also competing that night will be several community business men and women such as: Jaci DeVita and Amy Edwards (Sprout Salons), Mike Fortner (High Point Financial Group), Kelly Dietrich (Woodlands Township/Parks & Recreation), Jim Grant (Anadarko), Jennifer Colmenares (Spry Design), David Repke (AON Hewitt), and Miguel Lopez (M&H Energy Services).

A special event will take place when Luis Mateo will step into the ring to box a Golden Gloves boxer providing the audience with an authentic boxing match featuring two trained boxers. Now in his mid teens, Mateo was diagnosed with Leg Phertes at the age of three. The rare disease affects boys in 98% of the cases. Not expected to walk, several surgeries later and a hip replacement at 14 years of age, Mateo is a series boxing contender, and just recently won his most recent bout a couple of weeks ago in the 132-weight division...an inspiration himself.

Dana Pritchard, co-owner of Woodlands Performance & Suspension said, “It is a joy to work on an event where we can bring the sport of boxing to an arena where novice boxers can show what they have learned, alongside experienced boxers, with the primary goal of raising money and awareness for a great cause.”

Sponsors as of print date are; Pound 4 Pound Boxing, Woodlands Performance & Suspension, Yee Plastic Surgery, Sprout Salons, Woodforest Merchant Services, Elements Therapeutic Massage, Kathleen Ryan Photography, What’s Up Woodlands and M&H Energy Services.

Tickets are $15 each and kids 12 and under are free. Advanced tickets can be purchased at P4P Boxing and at Woodlands Performance & Suspension, or online at Boxing 4 Inspiration.
