ORWALL: Dodgers take Majors National title
THE WOODLANDS, Texas –Kyle Sims and Casen Holden combined for a shutout and the Dodgers made the most with two hits in a 3-0 win over the Braves in the Oak Ridge/Woodlands Area Little League (ORWALL) Majors Division end of season tournament championship game on Tuesday.
Sims started and went 3 1/3 innings, striking out five, before Holden closed it out with two strikeouts over the final 2 2/3 innings on the hill. The two scattered six hits and Holden worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning with a slick 6-3 doubleplay ball.
The Dodgers scored all of their runs in the second inning. Mark Murrell delivered a hit and scored a run. Sims and Benjamin Beckendorf also crossed the plate for the Dodgers. Hayden Stark and Dylan Dreiling added an RBI apiece.
Isaiah Phillips had the Dodgers’ only other hit as Braves’ pitchers Hayden Morse and Caleb Kanada held the Majors’ top-seed in check.
Kanada went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Braves, who stranded nine baserunners. Dylan Caples doubled while Morse and Logan Bailey each added a single.
In other division finals on Tuesday, the Major American Rangers won 10-0 over the A's while the 8AAA Rangers defeated the A’s 9-6. Many other division finals finished late Tuesday night. The 10AAA Rangers won 9-4 over the Astros while the Minor National Mets won 10-4 over the Marlins.
