Montgomery County Youth Services names Patti Rivela 'Woman of Distinction'

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Montgomery County Youth Services has chosen Patti Rivela to represent the agency as their “Woman of Distinction” at the 2013 Montgomery County Women of Distinction luncheon. The luncheon will take place May 24th at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott and will include an award presentation to honor women who have gone above and beyond in their service to the community.

Recognition of Rivela was given in response to her commitment to making a lasting impact on the lives of youth through Montgomery County Youth Services.

“Patti is truly a woman of distinction,” said John Bracken, Executive Director of MCYS. “She seeks to empower, enhance, grow and develop the youth in Montgomery County. She acts with passion, integrity, leadership and strives for excellence in all she does. We are beyond thankful for her dedication to serving the youth in our community through the years.”

Rivela’s tenure as a volunteer for Montgomery County Youth Services began in 2007, when she joined the MCYS Ladies Night Out committee. She went on to chair the committee in 2010 and co-chaired the committee in 2011. In 2011, she also joined the MCYS Board of Directors. Rivela uses her artistic abilities to benefit the shelter residents as well; she sketches and presents a framed portrait to each child that comes to BridgeWay in addition to making mums and providing appropriate attire for students’ homecoming celebrations during the fall. Additionally, she implemented open houses at the shelter to raise awareness of MCYS’ services. Her most recent project was leading the renovation for the BridgeWay Youth Shelter to provide a more professional workspace for residents and staff.

In addition to donating time to MCYS, Rivela also spends her time teaching art for the Montgomery County Women’s Center as well as serving as a patroness and committee chair for National Charity League. She chaired the Inspiration Ranch Gala 2011 – 2012 and works with New Danville’s Tea on the Lawn.
