OAK RIDGE NORTH, Texas – The College Park High School volleyball team flexed its muscles on the road Tuesday, going across the freeway to sweep Oak Ridge, 3-0, in a District 14-5A showdown.

The No. 17 Lady Cavaliers (15-7, 1-0) had it all go their way, winning 25-18, 25-21, 25-10 over the Lady War Eagles (20-6, 1-1).

Maya Arguez led the way at the net with 13 kills while Andi Platt handed out 22 assists and Kennedi Smith came up with 22 digs.

“I thought we did a good job of staying composed and running our system,” College Park head volleyball coach Candice Collins said. “It’s important to come out the first night of district, at somebody else’s house, and play as well as we did.”

The Lady Cavaliers were in complete control from the outset against an Oak Ridge squad poised to make a run at the three state-ranked teams in the district (No. 1 The Woodlands, No. 6 A&M Consolidated, No. 17 College Park).

“I thought we did really well tonight,” Collins said. “I’m super impressed with the girls. I thought they played hard.”

Victoria Harris was strong at the net for Oak Ridge, with seven kills. Jackie Ward handed out 18 assists and Raigen Cianciulli gathered 11 digs.

But the Lady War Eagles made too many mistakes.

“We can’t shy away from the challenge,” Oak Ridge head volleyball coach Tommie Sledge said. “This is our district, every single night.

“It’s all about fixing us. We beat ourself. I’m not going to say College Park didn’t do a good job, because they did. They came out and they executed. But we really need to look and revisit us. Our system failed us tonight.”

The Lady Cavaliers host Conroe at 6 p.m. Friday while Oak Ridge hosts Magnolia at 6 p.m. Friday for a non-district match.
