THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands community came out on Wednesday evening to celebrate not only a state and national championship volleyball team but also a national championship for The Woodlands High School band as well.

The Woodlands High School volleyball team marched into Market Street just before sunset, following the nation’s top high school band and both were honored for their respective accomplishments.

The Lady Highlanders volleyball team won the UIL Class 5A state championship with a perfect 45-0 record for the season and was recently named the top high school volleyball team in the country.

“It’s still kind of surreal,” Lady Highlanders coach Leslie Madison said on a cool, crisp December night. “When I think about it, it’s pretty awesome; best thing in my sports career.”

The entire volleyball program at The Woodlands High School (freshmen and JV teams) and junior high teams were undefeated for the season.
