Late goals lift Highlanders

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Better late than never.

The Woodlands High School boys’ soccer team scored three goals in the final 20 minutes to defeat Sam Houston, 3-1, Tuesday at Weldon Willig Field.

The Highlanders (7-0-1) tied it midway through the second half and then scored twice in two minutes late in the match to win it.

Primo Covarrubias scored two goals and Buba Jobe added a goal and an assist. David Lee also added an assist.

The Highlanders play one more district tune-up at Pasadena Sam Rayburn on Tuesday, Jan. 28, before returning home to open the District 14-5A season with a 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31 match with Conroe at Willig Field.
