Cooper track tuning up for SPC

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The John Cooper School track team is tuning up for the Southwest Preparatory Conference Meet. The Dragons recently hosted 350 track and field athletes at The Cooper Dragon Invitational and will compete in the Nick Finnegan Invitational, Thursday and Friday, hosted by St. John’s.

The SPC Championships are set for May 2-3 in Dallas.

Several Dragons proved to be ready for the big event with outstanding performances at The Cooper Invitational. Junior Pedro Nasta won the mile event and senior Jacob Stelter ran third.

“These two now have the two fastest times in the SPC this year,” said Cooper Head Track and Field Coach Scott Holland.“

Kendall Anderson took first in the pole vault. It was the senior’s third win this season.

“It was a bittersweet meet,” said Holland. “We saluted 19 departing seniors and we had some great performances and several athletes set personal records at the meet.”

Sophomore Bella Evans scored points in four events, including the long jump, triple jump, 400 meters and mile relay, where she ran with Pam Pimienta, Natalie Sos and Samara Sargeant, who also ran third in the 400 meters. Pimienta also placed third in the triple jump.

Also scoring points for the Lady Dragons, who placed fifth in the team standings, were Natalie Sos, Sara Abston, Sonia Johnson

Also scoring points for the boys’ team, which placed seventh in the team standings, were Iker Pimienta, Rami Asi, Alec Udell and Joe Lindley.
