THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – Celebrating the rich musical, arts and food traditions of Hispanic cultures in our community, the Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will again host the Fiesta Universal celebration. The day long slate of fun family activities will take place Saturday May 3, at Town Green Park on Lake Robbins next to the Pavilion in The Woodlands.

Local foods, family fun, dancing and music celebrate Hispanic heritage

Several live music performances will carry on rain or shine throughout the afternoon from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Admission is free and includes music, dancing and plenty of kids’ attractions, including: face painting, games from the Children’s Museum of The Woodlands, balloon artists, sports activities by the YMCA and a bounce house with fun slide.

Popular Houston Latin Rock band 'Jalea' will headline the entertainment. In addition to a DJ keeping the music going, music and dance performances include Aztec dancers, Ballet Folklorico and a Mariachi band. Local first responders will display a fire truck and ambulance for questions and closer looks by young and old.

This year the Fiesta Universal welcomes a host of new, local food vendors and the list keeps growing. Traditional foods including tacos, empanadas, and grilled meats may be purchased from the participating vendors including popular local food trucks. The Chamber expects a wide sampling of diverse regional and national influences.

The purpose of the Fiesta Universal is to raise scholarship funds for local Hispanic high school seniors attending college. Five seniors will be awarded with $1,000 scholarships Saturday evening. Each year the Chamber receives dozens of applications from eager CISD students in need of financial support to pursue further education.
