United Way announces new board members

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- As MCUW says farewell to outgoing Board Chair Danielle Schiener; new talent surfaces to serve on the MCUW Board of Directors. Montgomery County United Way welcomes new board members Brad Ivie of National Oilwell Varco, Rob Koester of Consolidated Communications and Jeff Scott of Ball Metal Beverage.

Board members who are returning for an additional term include: Peggy Colsman, CP Chemical Company; Mike Giblin, Retired from ExxonMobil, Carmen Hill, BBVA Compass Bank, Mike Jordan, Praxair; and Christi Thoms, CB&I.

Outgoing Chair Danielle Scheiner stated, “It has been an absolute privilege and honor to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors for Montgomery County United Way. This organization is taking the lead in identifying the challenges our residents are facing and in mobilizing the right players to address those challenges head on. Real change can be achieved when we work together, and I am so proud that United Way is leading the charge.”

Bob Abendschein of Anadarko Petroleum will be taking the lead in serving as the 2014 Chairman of the Board. Julie Martineau, President of Montgomery County United Way, stated “We are grateful for Danielle’s leadership and have really benefited having her depth of knowledge of and concern for our community . We are very fortunate to have such amazing volunteers serving on our Board and particularly as our Board Chairs’. Bob Abendschein is without a doubt the ideal candidate to help us take our work in the community to the next level and we are excited to see what the upcoming year will bring under his leadership.
