Kiewit Energy Group signs lease in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Howard Hughes Corporation (NYSE:HHC) and its wholly-owned subsidiary, The Woodlands Development Company has announced that Kiewit Energy Group Inc. has signed a 70,561-square-foot lease in a new four-story, approximately 95,000-square-foot building that The Woodlands Development Company is constructing on an 11-acre site located at 3831 Technology Forest Drive in The Woodlands.

“Kiewit’s consolidation provided a great opportunity for our company to custom build a facility tailored to their specific needs,” said Paul Layne, Executive Vice President of Master Planned Communities for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “We have a selection of sites available in The Research Forest and Town Center that we can offer to potential build-to-suit clients, along with the expertise of our talented development team.”

“The Research Forest is an ideal setting for companies like Kiewit that are consolidating several offices under one roof and seeking cost-effective relocation and expansion alternatives,” said Alex Sutton, Co-President of The Woodlands Development Company.

Kiewit’s Houston-based operations provide integrated engineering, procurement and construction services to the oil, gas, refining, petrochemicals and other process industries.

“This move is one more piece of Kiewit’s continued growth and expansion in the oil, gas and chemical market,” said Dan Lumma, Senior Vice President of Kiewit Energy Group Inc. “We’re excited about our current and future opportunities in this important market.”

The contractor for the project is EE Reed of Houston. The architect is PGAL. Construction of the building is underway, with a completion date scheduled for the end of 2014.

Kiewit was represented by Louie Crapitto of Jones Lang LaSalle. Robert S. Parsley and Norman V. Munoz of Colliers International represented The Woodlands Development Company in the lease transaction.
