THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Take a tour of The Woodlands sculptures and public art without leaving your seat - at the next meeting of the Montgomery County Association of Business Women (MCABW).

Tony Motto, artist, educator and author, will serve as the guest speaker at the organization's monthly coffee meeting, scheduled for 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at Eye Health Consultants, 1111 Medical Plaza Dr, Ste. 110 in The Woodlands, 77380.

Motto spent many years as a certified welder before entering the University of Nebraska - Lincoln to earn a degree in art education.

Upon graduating with honors in 1990, Motto began his teaching career at David Elementary for the Conroe Independent School District.

After seven award-winning years in public education, he went on to excel in corporate marketing. During the last 15 years as an entrepreneur, he has embarked in a variety of successful business endeavors.

Recently, Motto formed the Greater Woodlands Public Art Foundation, a non-profit organization that is funding a veterans' memorial monument for The Woodlands, called "The Way Home."

"From the moment I laid eyes on the statue, 'On the Shoulders of Giants,' it has been my goal to contribute something that would build an awareness and appreciation for each and every outdoor sculpture that resides in The Woodlands," Motto said.

He said the collection is the largest collection of outdoor sculptures for a community of its size in the U.S.

"I am hopeful that everyone will take a moment from their quick-paced lives and treasure the beauty of this collection that stands in their backyards," Motto said.

Motto's wife Jodi has been a member of the MCABW for the past two years.

She is a degreed health professional with a passion for holistic health. After earning her degree in health education from Texas A&M University, she worked for a doctor at the medical center.

Jodi teaches health and wellness classes to adults, including "Medicine Cabinet Makeover," "A Healthy Home and Body - How to Live Toxic Free," and "Healthy, Happy Pets."

She said that she enjoys being a member of the MCABW.

"I am thankful to be part of such a wonderful organization that is always giving back to the community - and that is so supportive of its members," Jodi said.

The MCABW provides a forum for local businesswomen to support each other - both in their professional and personal lives. The group holds a mixer the second Thursday of each month as well as a monthly luncheon the fourth Tuesday of each month at Incredible Pizza in Conroe. Visitors are invited to attend two MCABW events before joining the organization.
