Native Woodlander, former Highlander, and defending British Open champion, Stacy Lewis, completed her British Open defense tied for 12th overall. She shot 71-74-70-78 for a total 293 over the tournament, finishing six strokes off the lead. The tournament was held at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, Lancashire, United Kingdom.

The tournament dealt with very rugged conditions, especially over the weekend, as winds gusted over 25mph. This caused a lot of scores to drop, as eventual champion, US golfer Mo Martin, was the only player to finish below par at -1 for the tournament. She recorded an eagle on the 18th hole Sunday to accomplish the feat.

Lewis started Sunday’s final round of play only three shots off the lead, but shot a 6-over 78 on Sunday dealing with the conditions. Despite her struggles on Sunday, Lewis does know how to finish with a bang, recording birdies in three out of the four rounds on the 18th hole.

Lewis remains atop the LPGA rankings after the British Open results. Trailing Lewis in the standings are New Zealand's Lydia Ko and Korea's Inbee Park.
