THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The newest dance studio catering to residents of all ages in The Woodlands, Conroe and Spring, is set to make its debut in late August, with classes starting on September 2. The Texas Academy of Dance Arts, also known as TADA, is located at 26803 Hanna Road, Suite 501 in the growing community of Oak Ridge North. Within a short distance to the east side of Interstate-45 and The Woodlands Mall, the 9,000 square foot, state-of-the-art dance studio is sure to bring in dance enthusiasts and beginners alike, and will have every student saying, “TADA!”

Kristan Ballard, owner and studio director of Texas Academy of Dance Arts, may be starting a new business venture, but her roots are well grounded in the dance community. Dance has been a huge part of Ballard’s life since she was just three years old. She has trained under many industry notables, attended the University of Hawaii on a dance scholarship, has performed at major venues and concerts, and has over 20 years of experience in teaching and choreographing. Ballard was formerly the director of the Boni’s En Toure Dance Team for 13 years. The positive influence Ms. Boni had on Ballard has carried over into her own goals and dreams for TADA.

“It has always been a goal of mine to open and run my own studio,” said Ballard. “I want to be responsible for the good training of others, too. I want to create an environment where kids of all ages and levels can receive really good training from friendly instructors like the ones I grew up with.”

The studio will be complete with five dance rooms, a large gallery, cutting-edge equipment and resources, video observation, and more. All of the floors are sprung, which is the safest floor to dance on, reducing injuries and stress on the knees and ankles.

TADA will offer recreational, competitive and adult dance classes for all ages. Students have the opportunity to train in ballet, jazz, tap, pointe, contemporary, hip-hop, drill, musical theatre and many more. TADA even offers a mommy n’ me class for young children.

The dance studio is also proud to announce the formation of three competitive dance teams. TADA Company is the most intense, designed for competitive dancers ages 7-18, with training adding up to more than eight hours a week. Star Team is for dancers ages 4-18 that will include a fun and light competition scene with about 4 training hours a week. Lastly, but certainly not least, is the TADA Hip Hop Crew. This team is for kids who solely want to compete and train in hip-hop.

“The fact that we offer the three types of groups to get involved in is very special,” said Ballard.

Not only will these teams participate in dance competitions, but they will also have opportunities to dance for community outreach projects and charitable events.

On July 19 at The Woodlands Country Club, TADA will be having company tryouts for the three teams. However, there will be more opportunities to try out in the near future. More information can be found here. Also, TADA will soon be offering scholarships that dancers can apply for based on financial need.

All classes and teams at TADA will be taught by only the most well-qualified instructors that are both positive and friendly, while also challenging their students to perform at their very best. Due to Ballard’s connections she has made as a long-standing member of the dance community and her 13 years of residing in The Woodlands area, she has called on some of the most talented dance professionals to be instructors at TADA.

Elise and Rhodes Elliott, just married in early July, are dancers with the Houston Ballet and are among the talented instructors at TADA. Other teachers are also part of professional companies in Houston, including Jesus Acosta from the Houston MET and Nikki Wetter from Dance Ad Deum.

“I worked for many months to find the right people, and I am thrilled,” said Ballard. “All of them are willing to work with all ages and levels, and in my opinion, that is really special. The instructors at TADA are diverse, friendly, outgoing, and motivated.”

When classes begin in September, Ballard hopes that children will leave the studio with a huge smile on their face and that when they practice at home, they will end each performance with a big “TADA!” Ballard and her team’s passion for dance will only positively affect TADA for years to come, inspiring dancers to do what they love.
