Application forms for 2014 Hometown Hero nominations are now being accepted
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Application forms for 2014 Hometown Hero nominations are now available and will be accepted through Friday, August 15, 2014. The honor will be bestowed upon four individuals and a business or institution that serve as outstanding role models for volunteerism and dedication to The Woodlands’ community.
The Hometown Heroes will be inducted into the Hometown Heroes Hall of Fame at The Woodlands 2014 Celebration of Excellence gala benefiting Interfaith of The Woodlands, to be held Saturday, October 4, 2014 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. Since this annual tradition began in conjunction with The Woodlands 25th Anniversary Celebration in 1999, 97 individuals and 11 businesses have been selected for this prestigious honor.
A Selection Committee comprised of a group of past Hometown Heroes will choose the five honorees for 2014. Nomination forms are available in The Villager newspaper; at The Woodlands Homefinder Center, located at 2000 Woodlands Parkway; Interfaith of The Woodlands, located at 4242 Interfaith Way; or online at www.thewoodlands.net and www.woodlandsinterfaith.org. Nominees must be current residents of The Woodlands, or businesses/institutions based in The Woodlands. Completed nomination forms should be mailed to: Hometown Heroes Selection Committee, The Woodlands Homefinder Center; P.O. Box 5050, The Woodlands, TX 77387-5050.
Criteria the public should consider when nominating individuals or businesses for the honor of Hometown Hero include:
Positive role model
History of volunteerism
Sacrificing personal gain to achieve noble goals
Special awards and recognitions
Brought positive recognition to The Woodlands
Embodies the values of The Woodlands community, i.e. family values, the importance of education, the arts and culture, environmental consciousness
Economic contributions to the community
Leadership and courage
Consistent dedication and commitment to worthy causes
Representative of the diversity within the community
Spiritual leadership
Dedication to public service
