Voters are urged to check voting locations before heading to the polls on Tuesday, August 5, as some precincts have been consolidated for this special District 4 State Senate runoff election. The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The voting times are extended for early voting on Thursday, July 31 and Friday, August 1. The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. For those who don't vote by 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, Election Day is Tuesday, August 5. The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., however, many of the voting precincts have been consolidated for this special election. Refer to the following links before going to vote:

ORIGINAL STORY:

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Voters will return to the polls once again, for a special election to determine the outcome of the runoff race between Brandon Creighton and Steve Toth, for the District 4 State Senate position vacated by former state senator, Tommy Williams. Early voting will start Monday, July 28 and run through Friday, August 1; the official election day is August 5.

The four-candidate race back on May 10, which included Creighton and Toth, former District 4 senator, Michael Galloway, and Woodlands Township Director,Gordy Bunch, resulted in splitting the vote four ways, preventing any one candidate from getting a majority of the vote. Brandon Creighton received 8,936 votes for 46.20% of the vote; Steve Toth came in second with 5,266 votes for 27.23%; thus necessitating a runoff election.

For the convenience of the voters, votes can be cast at any poll location in the county where the voter is registered. Senate District 4 includes of all of Chambers and Jefferson Counties, and parts of Galveston, Harris and Montgomery Counties. Voters are reminded that they will need to produce a photo ID in order to vote. Valid forms of identification are:

- Texas driver license – issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS)
- Texas personal identification card – issued by DPS
- Texas concealed handgun license – issued by DPS
- United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph
- United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph
- United States passport – issued by the U.S. government
- Election identification certificate (obtainable from a DPS driver license office)

The voting times for early voting Monday, July 28 - Wednesday, July 30: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The voting times for early voting Thursday, July 31 and Friday, August 1: 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

To defer the cost of this special election on Election Day, August 5, some precincts are being consolidated.
