THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- With the start of the 2014-2015 school year just a few days away, Interfaith of The Woodlands distributed more than 2,100 school and grade specific school supply kits to local families as part of Interfaith’s Kits4Kidz program. In addition to the required school supply kits, children also received a new backpack and a voucher for a back to school outfit to use at the Interfaith Hand Me Up Shop. The goal of the Interfaith Back-To-School program is to ensure every child has the tools they need to have a successful start to the new school year.

This is the 30th year that Interfaith has been providing school supplies to area students, and the impact is far reaching. 34 local schools have a student or students that use Interfaith Kits4Kidz for their school supplies. “Through the efforts of Interfaith of The Woodlands, 2,100 Conroe Independent School District students will begin the 2014-2015 school year with new school supply kits, backpacks, clothes and monthly food items. This gift will greatly impact the academic success of approximately 6% of the elementary students and 4% of students overall in the Conroe ISD. Through the partnership of great organizations like Interfaith of The Woodlands, the Conroe ISD is better able to meet the needs of the students of Montgomery County,” said Dr. Don Stockton, Superintendent of the Conroe Independent School District.

“It is truly a wonderful feeling to see so many children excited when they are given all the supplies and a special backpack, knowing that their first day of school will be a happy one this year,” said Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands. In addition to the complete school supply kits, Interfaith also distributed backpacks and miscellaneous supplies to other qualified children and youth in the area.

The Kits4Kidz school supply program is partially funded by Talisman Energy and The Woodforest Charitable Foundation, along with many generous individuals, organizations and corporations. “Interfaith is grateful for the support we receive from so many individuals, civic groups, local businesses and other non-profits which enables us to reach as many children in need as possible” shared Dr. Snyder.
