MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas, August 12, 2014 – Stephen “Skeeter” Hubert filed the necessary paperwork yesterday, August 11, to run for Position 3 on the Conroe Independent School District’s Board of Trustees. Hubert is filing for the position vacated by Past President, C.J. Haynes. Haynes resigned from the board earlier this year when she purchased a home in the Creekside Park neighborhood of The Woodlands, outside of CISD's boundaries.

Stephen 'Skeeter' Hubert files for Conroe ISD school board.

Hubert, Senior Vice President of Woodforest Financial Services, intends to parlay previous community service from both the political arena, and working with non-profit organizations in Montgomery County, for the betterment of education.

“I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve in several significant capacities,” said Hubert. “The experience I have gained from serving on various non-profit boards in Montgomery County has prepared me well for the position of school board trustee.”

Hubert currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for Montgomery County Emergency Assistance, while also serving on the Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for two separate terms: 2007-2009, 2011-2014 and was the recipient of their “Volunteer of the Year” Award in 2007.

A father to three school-age children as well as a 2014 Conroe High School graduate, Hubert has a vested interest in educational curriculum and student achievement. Since 2006, Hubert has been a volunteer for the Education for Tomorrow Alliance, giving his time during each school year to teach CISD junior high students the Future Focus program (formerly CHOICES), designed to promote positive decision making. He also served on the Education for Tomorrow Alliance board of directors from 2011-2013.

Hubert is no stranger to service in an elected position. In 2008 he was elected to the Woodlands Community Association Board of Directors, where he also served as Secretary of the WCA Finance Committee which oversaw $14 million in assets. During his two year WCA term he also served on the Woodlands Parks & Recreation Board of Directors.

Additional community service includes:

Conroe Area Youth Baseball Coach 2014
South County Football League Coach 2013
Montgomery County Fair Committee Volunteer 2012
South Montgomery County March of Dimes Revenue Chairman 2009
Connecting Families of Montgomery County Board Member 2005, 2006, 2007
Chamber’s Business Expo Team Leader in 2005 & 2006, Chairman's Ball Team Leader in 2007
Children's Safe Harbor: Executive Committee Member, Finance 2006
Conroe YMCA: Board of Directors, 2004-2005
Humane Society of Montgomery County Fundraiser Chairman 2004

“Dr. Don Stockton and the previous CISD board members have done an excellent job in positioning our school district for the future. Our finances are sound, our tax rate is low, and our enrollment is continuing to grow. The rapid growth will bring needed changes and new challenges. As a school board trustee I will be informed, involved and invested in ensuring continued success.” said Hubert.
