LSC-Montgomery announces fall 2014 fine arts calendar

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Lone Star College-Montgomery fine arts department has announced an exciting lineup for the upcoming fall semester. Mark your calendars now, and come enjoy the many talented artists and performers at LSC-Montgomery. All events are open to the community and admission prices vary, with many being free of charge.

Fall Semester Art Gallery Exhibits:

“Surface Time” by Mark Greenwalt will be displayed from Aug. 25-Sept. 26. Art closing reception will be Monday, Sept. 22, at 12 p.m.

“Unrestricted Boundaries” by Valerie Yaklin-Brown will be displayed from Oct. 6-24. Art opening reception will be Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 12 p.m.

“Accidental Purpose” by Grace Zuniga will be displayed from Nov. 3-21. Art opening reception will be Monday, Nov. 3, at 12 p.m.

“Juried Student Show” Works will be displayed from Dec. 8-12. Art reception will be Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 12 p.m.

All exhibits and artist receptions are held in the Mary Matteson-Parrish Art Gallery located in the Performing Arts Center (building D). The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. All art exhibits are free of charge and open to the public. Fall Semester Music Concerts:

Jazz Ensemble Concert performing Friday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m.

Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra Concert performing Thursday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m.

Fall Choir Concert performing Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m.

Chamber Ensemble and Symphonic Band performing Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m.

Holiday Benefit Concert performing in the Mainstage Theatre (building D) on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $7 Student/Employee; $10 Seniors 55+; $15 General Admission

All performances take place in our Recital Hall venue (building H), except for the Holiday Benefit Concert, which takes place in the Performing Arts Center (building D). Fall Semester Drama Performances:

Speech and Debate will be performed in the Black Box Theatre (building D) on Oct. 9-10 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. and 7.p.m. Tickets: $5 General Admission. Rating: NC-17, contains adult language and situations.

It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play will be performed in the Mainstage Theatre (building D) on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 5:30 p.m., Nov. 20-21, at 7p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Rating: G, okay for all audiences.

Dancescape will be performed in the Mainstage Theatre (building D) on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. Tickets: $5 Student/Employee; $7 Seniors 55+; $10 General Admission.
