SHENANDOAH, Texas - Shenandoah city officials have been asked to serve on important legislative policy development committees by the Texas Municipal League (TML). The TML’s mission is to serve the needs and advocate the interests of its 1,142 member cities statewide.

Mayor Garry Watts was recently asked to join the TML Resolutions Committee, which is a key component of TML’s policy development process. Decisions made by this committee will have significant impact for all Texas cities.

As a long time City official, Mayor Watts has extensive experience serving on a range of boards and committees, both with TML and throughout the community. He has been recognized by the Texas Municipal League (TML) as a Certified Municipal Official, which is based on over 100 hours of training as well as participating on various boards and committees with TML.

Shenandoah City Administrator Greg Smith and Chief of Police John Chancellor are on the TML Legislative Policy Committee on General Government. This committee also helps shape policies that affect Texas cities and is formed by “topic specific” subcommittees that focus on Regulation of Development, Revenue and Finance, and Transportation and Rights-of-Way.

Mayor Watts speaks proudly of the Shenandoah’s service mentality, “We are fortunate to have opportunities to represent Shenandoah and to serve the interests of cities across the state,” said Watts. “At the end of the day, Texas cities support each other and what affects one often affects all of us.”
