THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Cellar Twenty Four, a wine shop and tasting bar in The Woodlands, will host a fundraising event to benefit “The Way Home” Veterans Memorial Monument and the Lone Star Veterans Association on Thursday, Sept. 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Way Home monument is a project of the Greater Woodlands Pubic Art Foundation, in which a bronze sculpture will be displayed at Town Green Park in The Woodlands to honor members of every branch of the U.S. military. It will feature two 12-foot bronze statues modeled after real-life soldiers from Montgomery County — Private First Class Cory Kosters and Corporal Zachary Endsley, who were both killed in action in 2007.

The monument is meant to symbolize those who have served and also the hope and vision of finding “The Way Home.” The two figures look in opposite directions, but one touches his friend’s shoulder with one hand and has the other hand outstretched, as if pointing the way home. The design for the statue was by Official Texas State Sculptor Edd Hayes, who also created the deer statues featured at the entrances to The Woodlands.

The Lone Star Veterans Association is the largest group of post-9/11 veterans in Texas with its membership primarily made up of the men and women who served in Afghanistan, Iraq and around the world.

The event is co-hosted by Honor Winery, which produces blends from areas of California and is debuting in the Greater Houston Area. Honor Winery was created and is dedicated to the men and women who serve our country in the United States Armed Forces. Proceeds from every bottle are contributed to various military charities for the fallen or injured.

Tickets to the event are $100 per person and include wine tastings and hors d’oeuvres. Twenty-five dollars from each ticket as well as ten percent of purchases of Honor Winery wines from that evening will be donated to “The Way Home” project and the Lone Star Veterans Association. For tickets, call Cellar Twenty Four at 281.419.9966.

Cellar Twenty Four, owned by Shelli and Justin Styles, is located in the Sterling Ridge Shopping Center, near the northwest corner of Woodlands Parkway and Kuykendahl, to the left of the Kroger Signature Store.

Specializing in high-quality, smaller production wines from around the globe, Cellar Twenty Four offers tastings with wine makers and boutique winery owners, wines by the glass, private tastings, classes, a wine club, and craft beers. In addition to cheese plates, they serve light food such as caprese brushetta and scratch-made pizzas. Live music entertainment is featured on Saturday evenings.
