TWCA vs. Cypress Christian

The Woodlands Christian Academy moved to 3-0 on the young football season with an easy 28-2 victory over Cypress Christian last Friday night.

Luke Hudson scored on runs of 45, 6 and 55 yards to lead TWC to the easy win. He finished the game with 143 yards rushing.

Jack Bento also hit Dirk Sanford with a 10-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Bento completed 7-of-12 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown, while Sanford caught five passes for 61 yards.

The Woodlands Christian held Cypress Christian to only 179 total yards while piling up 344 total yards of its own.

Tomball vs. Mayde Creek

The Tomball Cougars improved to 2-1 on the football season with a lopsided 35-7 win over Mayde Creek on Friday night.

The Cougars finished the game with 255 total yards and did not commit a turnover in recording their second straight victory. Mayde Creek (1-2) had 322 total yards, but was hurt by two costly fumbles.

Magnolia West vs. Huntsville

The Huntsville Hornets scored three late touchdowns to beat Magnolia West 30-24 in a non-district football game last Friday night.

Magnolia West dropped to 1-2 with the loss.

Magnolia West’s Stevie Damel kicked a 26-yard field goal in the third quarter to give his team a seemingly insurmountable 24-9 lead. But Huntsville rallied with three straight touchdowns to take the victory.

Adrian Thomas scored on a 5-yard run, and Tyler Ferre hit Tyler Ray with a 7-yard touchdown pass for Magnolia West. Thomas finished the game rushing for 95 yards and a touchdown, while Ferre passed for 197 yards, but was intercepted four times.

Tomball Memorial vs. El Campo Ricebirds

Tomball Memorial dropped to 1-2 on the young football season with a tough 28-10 loss to the tradition-rich El Campo Ricebirds on Friday night.

Lawrence Jackson gave Tomball Memorial a quick 6-0 lead when he returned the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown. Christian Jugg added the extra-point to make it 7-0.

Jugg then kicked a 44-yard field goal to give Memorial a 10- 7 lead with 4:59 left in the first half. But El Campo scored before half to grab a 14-10 lead and then took control of the game in the second half. Tomball Memorial finished the game with 177 total yards, while El Campo had 402 yards and no turnovers.

Magnolia vs. Willis

The Willis Wildkats scored twice in the final 15 minutes to stun the Magnolia Bulldogs 18-14 in a non-district football game last Friday night.

Magnolia was nursing a 14-10 lead on the strength of Jacob Frazier’s 1-yard touchdown run on the final play of the first half and Frazier’s 19-yard scoring strike to Gavin Culberson in the third quarter before Willis mounted a rally.

Magnolia finished the game with 240 total yards, while Willis had 294.
