THE WOODLANDS, Texas - As Highlander Nation piled into Woodforest Bank Stadium on Friday night to see The Woodlands Highlander football team host the Katy Tigers last Friday, a familiar number was on the field. Number 18 was warming up in pre-game field, as Chris Andritsos has returned to The Woodlands football team.

Earlier this season, Andritsos, a projected high pick in the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft, left the football team to concentrate on baseball.

Andritsos was the starting quarterback last season for the Highlanders and led The Woodlands to the Regional Quarterfinals in Waco. Not only did Andritsos play quarterback for the Highlanders last season, but he also served as their punter.

Having Andritsos back in the fold for the Highlanders allows Head Coach Mark Schmid flexibility at the quarterback position. Chris is a natural athlete and one of his best attributes last season was being able to extend plays and make plays with his feet.

The timing seeming perfect for the Highlanders, as they are coming off a statement 24-7 win over Katy last Friday and now have another weapon that opposing defenses have to prepare for.

With Andritsos returning and no one knowing what role he’ll play, the Highlanders are now more dangerous than they proved last Friday.
