THE WOODLANDS, Texas - A longstanding Woodlands Christian tradition is the senior class retreat to Camp Eagle. Camp Eagle is located in the Texas Hill Country at the headwaters of the spring-fed Nueces River. It is here the senior class is afforded the opportunity to spend a few days away from the trappings of everyday life as they enter their final year of high school. The students often look upon this trip as the single-most memorable event of their senior year and this year’s trip was no exception.

The corporate goals set by the Class of 2015 prior to their retreat were to grow closer as a class, to more freely communicate on a deeper level with one another, to grow in respect for one another, to become better listeners, and to learn to work together. “I was astounded as I witnessed this group achieve each one of these goals in just three short days,” said Jason Farra, Campus Pastor.

Through fast-paced team building games and extreme outdoor activities, the seniors grew to trust one another on a level they had never before experienced. Many students overcame their fear of heights through the encouragement and prayer of their classmates. They were able to decompress and disconnect from their native digital habitat and engage with their friends on a level previously unknown. Perhaps the greatest lesson the group learned is that leadership is often best demonstrated through faithful and humble following. Pastor Farra noted that, “These students will be forever changed by this experience, and I look forward to their faithful leadership on our campus throughout the 2014-2015 school year.”
