THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The following are Conroe ISD campus updates for September 24 – 30.

Birnham Woods Elementary School

Fourth grade Honor Choir practice begins Thursday morning, September 25 at 7 a.m. Practice will continue every Tuesday morning beginning September 30.

Spirit Sticks will be on sale Wednesday, September 24 from 7:20-7:40 a.m. Pre-order forms will be sent home the week before in Friday folders and sent home with your child if you are unable to make the early morning sale times.

October 1 kicks off our Boosterthon Fun Run with the Fun Run Student Pep Rally. The Fun Run event takes place October 10. Mark your calendars to join us for this fun and exciting event!

Our Watch D.O.G.S. program has officially started and the “Dads of Great Students” have shown great excitement. A special thanks to all of the volunteers for making the program such a great success and school wide anticipated event.

Yearbooks are now on sale! They are sold online for $25 only until October 15. The price will go up beginning October 16. To order, go to www.balfour.com and type in our school name. Take advantage of the lowest price of the school year.

Broadway Elementary School

We will be having fall pictures on Thursday, September 25.

Our Parent Teacher Organization is giving a Teacher Appreciation Day on Thursday, September 25 by providing snacks in the lounge.

Buckalew Elementary School

September 25 will be third grade Johnny Appleseed Day in classrooms with many activities celebrating the season. First grade Apple Day will take place on September 26.

Fall student pictures will be taken in the library also on September 26.

Bush Elementary School

On Friday, October 3 first grade will have their annual fundraiser Sock Hop.

Let's get ready to walk or roll! Walk to school day is Thursday, October 9. Make a plan to walk or ride your bike to school with family or friends.

Cox Intermediate School

Timberwolf teachers are Recognizing Our Committed Kids. Teachers are keeping their eyes out for students who are making great choices in behavior. Galatas Elementary School

On September 26, former Galatas students from The Woodlands High School football team will be reading in classrooms in support of the Conroe Independent School District's Read for a Better Life initiative.

Glen Loch Elementary School

Picture day is Thursday, September 25. Please return the picture packet with money for your student's pictures.

The Parent Teacher Organization will have the school store open on Thursday, September 25 before school for students in kindergarten, second, and fourth grades.

Students have started skating in Physical Education classes. Students in skating classes should continue to bring socks to school.

Hailey Elementary School

Thank you to the many parents, friends, and College Park High School students who made our “Read for a Better Life” kick-off tremendously successful on September 17. Our students enjoyed your reading visits!

Wednesday, September 24 at 5:30 p.m. our students and staff will participate in The Woodlands College Park High School Red Wagon Parade at Woodforest Stadium. Please wear your blue school shirt and come join the fun as a Superhero of Learning! Red capes will be given to the first 50 Hailey students who arrive.

Thursday, September 25, is fall picture day. Please refer to the packet sent home regarding student pictures and purchasing details, and return your child's order by picture day.

Parenting with Love and Logic, a nationally recognized common sense approach to parenting, provides easy-to-learn skills that instill responsibility, respect, and good decision-making in our youth. This course is offered free to Hailey, Glen Loch, and Houser parents on Thursday evenings, September 25, October 2, 9, and 16 at 6-8 p.m. at Houser Elementary, 27370 Oak Ridge School Road. Please contact Hailey counselor, Mrs. Florian, at mflorian@conroeisd.net with questions or to register.

The Hailey Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is holding its annual membership drive. Joining the PTA is a meaningful way to support our school and our students, and costs only $10 annually.

Students are encouraged to bring aluminum cans for recycling every Friday morning for our Cash for Cans program.

Irons Junior High School

Irons Junior High is proud to recognize the following "Students of The Week" for their academic or social achievements. The “Red Hot” learning team would like to recognize Ashley Harlicker as the student of the week for the Red Hots Team. She is a dedicated student and fun to be around. The "Dream Team" learning team would like to recognize Christian Cancienne for his upbeat attitude, participation, and excellent work in class. The “Extreme” learning team would like to recognize Cami Roman. The "Shake N' Bake" learning team would like to recognize Kayla Garza for her hard work and dedication to her schoolwork. The “Awesome” learning team would like to recognize Jack Granack. The "Justice League" learning team would like to recognize Lacy Triplett as their Hero of the Week. The "Black Hawks" learning team would like to recognize Roberta Steen. She is doing well in all her classes and she moved up to bronze level in one of her classes. We are so proud of her! Ms. Carmona's student of the week is Benito Jax for giving 110% and helping others. Artist of the week in Ms. Poynter's Art I is Chloe Heidecker for her creative artwork, In Art II, Melani Sollano for her beautiful Zen-tangle composition, Ben Riojas for his hard work in Art Buddies and Anton Crawford for being such a good teacher. Choir singer of the week is Alexandria Pressley. Her leadership and selfless acts show that she has what it takes to be a dynamic leader. Alexandria's creative ideas and dedication to complete projects are an inspiration to all around her. Cheerleaders of the week are Ashlyn Wilson and Ashley Bays. Drill Team: Liberty Star of the week is Makenna Fowler.

Kaufman Elementary School

All students will be participating in the Boosterthon Kick-off Rally on Monday, September 29. The rally will be getting students pumped up and ready to help raise money for their campus. This is Kaufman's big fundraiser for the year in which students collect pledges for laps they complete at the culminating event, the Fun Run, which will take place on Thursday, October 9.

Knox Junior High School

Knox students will participate in the College Park Spirit Parade and Pep Rally on Wednesday, September 24 beginning at 6 p.m. at Woodforest Stadium.

The Boy's Cross Country team will participate in the Brenham Meet on Friday, September 26 beginning at 5 p.m.

Join “Because Art Matters” for the third annual Fast Draw Competition to be held Saturday, September 27 at the Woodlands Mall. This competition is open to seventh and eighth grade students in Montgomery County. Please see Brandi Prater, Knox Art teacher, in Room 129 if you have questions or need help registering.

Calling all budding artists in grades first through eighth! We need you to help us design the 2015 Trash Bash T-shirt. Trash Bash, the largest waterway clean-up event in the State of Texas, will hold its 22nd consecutive clean up event on March 28 in continuation of our mission to clean up and promote a healthy Galveston Bay Watershed. For more details please see Brandi Prater, Knox Art teacher, in Room 129.

Auditions for the University Interscholastic League one-act play will be Wednesday, September 24 and Thursday, September 25 in Room 308 from 4-5 p.m. All actors will need to memorize a 30 second comic monologue. Those who wish to apply for a technical position need to come to one of the audition days and fill out an application. Auditions are open to the entire school. Please see Kami Jackson, Knox Theatre Teacher, in Room 308 if you have any questions.

Oak Ridge Elementary School

Students will be traveling to Oak Ridge High School to see the play, Charlotte's Web. The play is being performed by students from Oak Ridge High School theater. Students in kindergarten, first and second grade will attend on Thursday, September 25 at 9:15 am. Students in third and fourth grade will attend on Friday, September 26 at 12:45 p.m.

Powell Elementary School

American-Indian Heritage Day is September 26. Classes will be learning about the different tribes in different regions of our State.

Mark your calendars and make plans to browse our Fall Book Fair beginning Monday, September 29 during our Pre-view week. Reading is vital to every child's success!

The Parent Teacher Organization's final day to turn in cookie dough orders for their fundraiser is Monday, September 29.

Snyder Elementary School

Our first Superstar Celebration for Character will be Friday September 26 at 1:30 p.m. We will be very excited to see who is chosen by their teacher for this special celebration.

Our Boosterthon is officially in full swing! Be sure to ask family and friends for pledges to help make our Boosterthon successful. On Wednesday October 1, all students will be participating in our Boosterthon Fun Run. Please check our website as it gets closer for times your students will be running. Thank you for supporting our school.

Wilkerson Intermediate School

On September 24, progress reports will be in Wednesday folders.

On September 30, the Choir Social will take place at SK8 Town from 6-8:30 p.m.

Fall Picture Day will be on October 2.

On October 2, the Youth Activity Fair will be from 6-7:30 p.m.

York Junior High School

York Junior High is hosting a canned food drive September 15-26. Students are collecting dry goods and turning them in to their fourth period classes. Our donations will support the Montgomery County Food Bank.

Film Club will start meeting on Wednesday afternoons from 4-5 p.m. in room 124 starting September 24.

Students interested in auditioning for the spring musical should stop by Mr. Ott's room, #124, for more information.
