THE WOODLANDS, Texas - On Monday, September 29, week 3 of Dancing with the Stars airs on ABC. The remaining dancers in the competition will perform with their professional dance partners, and although the show takes place in California, a local dance studio will be making a special appearance. Betsey Johnson, a fashion icon for over 40 years and one of the show’s contestants, happened to be in town this past weekend for an event at Nordstrom The Woodlands. Needing a place to rehearse with her dance partner, Tony Dovolani, the duo danced right on over to the Texas Academy of Dance Arts, also known as TADA.

Located at 26803 Hanna Road in Oak Ridge North, TADA is a brand new studio that opened to the public on September 12. Kristan Ballard, owner and studio director of Texas Academy of Dance Arts, was excited and more than happy to let Johnson and Dovolani use the studio to practice for Monday’s performance.

“They utilized the studio, but what was really cool was that Tony and Betsey were such sweet people,” said Ballard. “Whenever they would take breaks, they would go out into the hallways where our kids were rehearsing and they watched our dances. It is not every day a child gets a celebrity to watch their dance. It was so thrilling.”

Davolani even took to Instagram while rehearsing at TADA, posting a picture with some of the kids at the studio, along with Johnson doing the splits.

“They were just the nicest people,” said Ballard. “Betsey was very exuberant and full of energy. She kept complimenting the kids and the studio.”

Week three of Dancing With The Stars will air tomorrow on ABC at 7pm. The theme is Movie Night and you can be sure to catch Johnson and Dovolani perform their dance that they rehearsed in The Woodlands.

“What you will be looking at is them rehearsing at our studio,” said Ballard.

Ballard and the dancers at TADA will be watching tomorrow, cheering on Johnson and Dovolani, while leaving the local studio with a long-lasting, memorable experience.
