THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is teaming up with ExxonMobil as the presenting sponsor for one of the biggest children’s festivals in the world. The 19th Annual Children’s Festival takes place Nov. 6-9, 2014, and is expected to attract more than 20,000 people from the Greater Houston area. Children’s Festival showcases children’s activities with a diverse assortment of entertainment that spans from local community acts to today’s top performers like Choo-Choo Soul "With Genevieve!" and Junie B. Jones “Jingle Bells Batman Smells.” Kids also get the chance to meet and take photos with Captain Barnacles and Kwazii from the Octonauts™! The Festival also includes school days that are dedicated to field trips and feature performers who entertain and incorporate important educational lessons into their shows. The Houston Children’s Museum, Houston Zoo, Houston Museum of Natural Science and ExxonMobil science ambassadors also will provide educational opportunities for students at the Festival. With ExxonMobil’s support, The Pavilion is expanding the number of school children attending the Festival on Nov. 6 and 7. “The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is recognized for its world-class performing arts and educational outreach programs, and we are proud to support efforts to provide thousands of children and families across the Houston area fun opportunities to explore science and the arts at Children’s Festival,” said Truman Bell, ExxonMobil Headquarters Community Relations Manager. The weekend is open to the public and features lots of hands-on activities like face painting, hat-making, arts and crafts, kite flying, and parachute races. Kids can visit the Activity Tent, Texas Children’s Hospital’s Healthy KidZone, The Villager’s Arts Alley, ExxonMobil STEM Zone, Anadarko Adventure Zone and the Galaxy FBO Fly Zone. The ExxonMobil STEM Zone, dedicated to lessons on science, technology engineering and math, features the Big Canyon Balloon where kids can explore inside the canyon and discover record oil deposits. Admission is $8 per person in advance or $10 per person at the door. Children under two are admitted free of charge. Your ticket covers a variety of activities and performances for the whole day. No need to worry about buying extra tokens or tickets. Guests are welcome to bring in food and have a picnic. Please note that beverages cannot be brought into The Pavilion. Tickets can be purchased at The Pavilion Box Office or through Ticketmaster. There’s so much excitement surrounding Children’s Festival, you won’t want to miss it.
